Friends, Cams and SLCDs
No matter what you call them, camming devices are genuine articles of the space age made with fabulously light and strong materials combined with slick operation and high degrees of safety. They are easy to place and remove from almost any parallel sided crack and colour coding helps make selection easier. Cams tighten as load is applied making them much safer than their ease of use implies.
SINGLE STEM CAMS: Small flexible shaft allows single handed placement into narrow places. Light weight and two fingered operation typify this design.
DOUBLE STEM CAMS: Improved control during placement and allows for single finger operation and resists twisting. Flexible stem provides for use at varying depths of crack with no levering.
3 CAM DESIGNS: Minimal width so can fit in smaller spaces but require extra careful placement, Useful in horizontal cracks and always used with two outer cams at the bottom for maximum stability.
4 CAM DESIGNS: Greater stability than 3 cam designs but wider. The wider the cam the less susceptable to 'walking' deeper into the crack as the rope moves through. Easier to position and more forgiving of uneven surfaces but require more room. Safest placement is with two outer cams at the bottom.

Using a sliding ball next to a grooved wedge, ballnuts use the principle of opposing wedges to give protection in thin parallel cracks where nothing else can be placed.
Range of expansion 2:1 in each of the 5 sizes. For cracks from 3 to 18 mm.

Introduced in 2006 the superb Pulsar wide-range double stem cams have a wider pitch for greater stability and a performance combined with quality syling and feel that's second to none. If you want a great set of larger cams with wide camming distances you need look no further.
Thanks to its perfect relation between size and weight and superb stability in a crack, Pulsar offers the necessary confidence and safety. The metal body of Pulsar makes it almost indestructible. The U-shape of the body protects the trigger and thus prolongs its lifetime. Particularly big sizes 6 and 7 are a must have. Different size-based colours and a double sling for extension is a standard providing three clipping positions and an easy loop to use a longer sling without needing additional carabiners.
