A movie about the love of bouldering and a woman's quest for the ultimate high.

Lisa Rands takes us on a search for highball California Granite, from Black Mountain to Donner Summit; a fingertip-ripping tour of some of the best bouldering in the Golden State.

Inspiring a revolution in women's bouldering, Rands stepped up to tall hard problems without ropes, pushes, or any other aid to help work the moves. In this video, we see her take that 'ground up' philisophy on the road, making ascents of the stunning 'Thriller' in Yosemite Valley, and 'Plain High Drifter' (V11) at the Buttermilks (the first V11 by an American woman.) She also fights back her fear to tackle the finest patina in the Bishop area on 'The Checkerboard' plus the terrifying highball 'Sword of Damocles' at Horse Flats.

Lisa's 100% effort is clearly evident in the grimace on her face and the torn tape on her fingers. Between double-screamer fliers and close-up wide-angle action, Rand talks about her motivation, her excitement for climbing, and about the day she wrote down her 'hit list' of all those great lines she was so determined to climb.

A Film by Wills Young.

BACHAR " ONE MAN MYTH LEGEND SOLO "

Price:  £19.95 [€24.95]Including VAT

This long anticipated profile of a climber, John Bachar, who for many years was considered America's strongest and most daring rock climber, has finally arrived. In every sport there are men, myths and legends. In the world of rock climbing and free soloing without a rope, there is only one name that fits all three: John Bachar.

Controversial and uncompromising, Bachar pushed the boundaries of what was possible and raised the world's standards at a time when climbers merely pursued the physical in climbing.

A true rock star as a teenager, Bachar soloed 5.11 when 5.12 did not yet exist, he created the first 5.12 in Yosemite Valley, bouldered harder, climbed stronger and refused to compromise his ethics along the way. Then, at the height of his fame, he disappeared.

John Long says. 'There has never been anyone like John Bcahar, and there never will be again.'

Peter Croft says, 'Yosemite was THE place, Bachar was THE guy, that makes him more than just a climber.'

This film features exclusive interviews with the legends of climbing, including Bachar himself, Royal Robbins, John Gill, Bob Kamps, Peter Croft, John Long, and David Schultz.
Written and directed by Michael Reardon, who has made many incredible climbing films.

E11 - The hardest route on the planet !

Price:  £18.99 [€23.74]Including VAT

Dave MacLeod's first ascent of Rhapsody earlier this year was a landmark moment in climbing history - the first climb graded E11, and the hardest traditional route in the world. This is a superb film which captures not only this historic moment but also the hard work and sacrifices which made it possible.

Told in an offbeat dramadoc style the film attempts to understand what it takes to climb a route of this standard. E11 strives to get inside the head of its first ascentionist, the understated yet quite remarkable Dave MacLeod. Oh yeah, it’s also packed full of ankle smashing, gear ripping, monster falls!

The DVD extras include many of MacLeods other hard ascents from the year including bouldering font 8bs, Sport f8b+ and f8b solo!

Film length 42 minutes
Extras 35 minutes

Beckoning Silence
Life and Death on the Eiger

Joe Simpson travels to the treacherous North Face of the Eiger to tell the story of one of mountaineering's most epic tragedies. Toni Kurz was a brilliant young mountaineer who along with 3 other climbers tried to climb the mountain in 1936 - which was then the last unconquered peak in the Alps.

Over 50 years later Kurz's story haunted Simpson as he battled for his own survival while hanging in mid-air. His plight uncannily mirrored that of Kurz - except against all the odds, Simpson lived whilst his hero had perished.

The gripping, action packed climbing film allows Simpson to finally confront his demons on the Eiger's North Face and rediscover the thrill of the climb that once made him feel so alive.
