Rock shoe fitting advice
	Shoe Size Chart
Rockshoes are designed to be fitted skin tight on bare feet. Stick to what you already know about your shoe size and you wont go too far wrong. If you are unsure of which size or type rockboot to order, please contact us first. We are able to advise based on the climbers experience, existing rockboot brand and sizing. SIZES Post or fax us your foot outline on 01926 353476 and we'll gladly advise on the size that you need. New climbers will find it more difficult to tell if a shoe fits properly, we often hear new climbers say that even properly sized climbing shoes feel too tight. Such is the nature of climbing shoes although this will ease over a few climbing sessions as your feet begin to strengthen and the shoes stretch a little to your foot shape. If you are an intermediate climber, a little tighter by 1/2 a size will feel more technical and for advanced climbers as much as a whole size smaller is not uncommon. Unless you are an experienced climber, wearing rockshoes smaller than your street shoe size is likely to very uncomfortable or even painful. Unlined shoes will stretch about 0.5 of a size and form to the foot shape more readily so feel a little more comfy over time. Lace-ups can be fine tuned along their length for maximum comfort and performance whereas velcro closures allow for fast fitting and removal between climbs which can be essential if you prefer an exceptionally tight fit. WIDTH Womens feet tend to be narrower than mens so should look for narrower fitting boots. There are plently of narrow footed men too - try a Hottie, Aurora or Banshee - the fit might just be what you are looking for particularly if you suffer from baggy heels in other styles. For wider feet avoid highly technical shoes as the curvature will make shoes feel narrower. CHILDREN Childrens feet are less able to withstand the enormous pressures of climbing and are rarely pushed to the same limits as adult climbers so a much more relaxed approach to fitting can normally be taken. Avoid crushing delicate toes by buying the correct size and upgrade regularly as their feet grow. We do not recommend childrens climbing shoes for adult feet. GET THE MOST FROM YOUR CLIMBING SHOES Rockshoes are tight fitting to help squeeze and stiffen the foot so driving all the power toward the big toe. The other toes should curl slightly toward the big toe so that the overall the foot is slightly C-shaped. For the most technical rockboots the last is designed to reshape and hold the foot to an even greater degree. Socks are not normally worn as they allow the foot to twist inside the shoe and also distort the shape and size of the foot, sock seams in particular can become excruciating. A light dusting of talc can help fit tight shoes on more easily and it is a good idea to loosen the laces completely right down to the toes before fitting and then tighten as far as possible without causing pain. Sweat and skin particles will rub off onto the inner of your climbing shoes during use. Over time this may get smelly and in some cases can become slippery enough to reduce the effectiveness of your shoes. We recommend regular cleaning or wiping out of climbing shoes to prevent this build up. Resoling services are available for most climbing shoes to help make them last longer, we strongly advise: 1. ONLY get them resoled by a specialist that will use the original climbing rubber used by the manufacturer, 2: DO NOT wear a hole in your sole then expect to get a perfect repair - it damages the stiffener and prevents a proper repair. 3: DO NOT expect your resoled shoe to feel the same as they did new - because of the various ages of footbed; sole and stiffener they will not be 'as good as new.'
