The VSS (Variable Sleep System) concept is elegant in its simplicity, why have a sleeping bag for each season or leg of a long trek ?

Instead, have sleeping bags that combine and fit inside each other. Use individual bags on their own or in combination, you can then adjust your sleeping system to suit the prevailing conditions. The result is a five season sleeping system rated down to -20C that packs down to a convenient size.

Sleeping Bag Liners are superb not only at keeping your bag cleaner but can also be used alone when sleeping in any communual space such as hostels, budget hotels, mountain huts and trains/boats etc. For extra protection you can treat your liner with Permethrin which is a very effective, safe insecticide ideal for use around the world.This will reduce the risk of being bitten by annoying and potentially dangerous bugs. Even if these pests are intent on biting you through the fabric, contact dazes the insect, rendering it unable to bite and eventually stunning or killing it.
