The warmer the temperature the darker the grey on the image above. Transitions between light and dark cloud indicate the position of weather features such as fronts and storms etc. Northern hemisphere features cycle toward the center of low pressure areas anti-clockwise following the pressure contours. Low pressure is associated with warm moist air rising, exanding and cooling to produce lots of cloud with rain or snow. The opposite effects occur in high pressure anticyclone areas where cool air is moving toward the Earth, compressing and warming so dispersing cloud through evaporation and creating only very light surface winds. For a detailed local weather forecast always refer to a professional weather service.
